Daily Bible Reading – July 2021, God’s Word of Faithনমুনা
July 9
Introduction
The imagery of Mount Sinai is contrasted with Mount Zion and the heavenly Jerusalem, where people come to Jesus who has arranged the new covenant between God and God’s people. The chapter concludes with words of encouragement and a reminder that God’s kingdom cannot be shaken.
Today’s Scripture Reading
Hebrews 12:12-29
Today’s Key Verse: Hebrews 12:28b
"Let us be grateful and worship God in a way that will please him, with reverence and awe."
Reflect
What instructions are given in verses 12-17? How do these instructions impact life within a community of faith? The “heavenly Jerusalem” is referred to as “the city of the living God” (verse 22), also referenced in an earlier reading (11:10, 16). It is the heavenly place where those who are faithful to God will be with God forever. Reread verses 22-24. How do you envision what is described here?
Pray
Lord God, thank you for calling me to be part of the joyful gathering of God’s people. You alone are worthy of praise and honor. May my worship be pleasing to you. Amen.
Prayer Concern
All those who gather for worship
Tomorrow’s Reading
