True Worship Happens When…

DAY 4 OF 5

True worship happens when… IV

#5. I Let It Overflow Into My Words And My Deeds.

2 Sam. 6:17-19: “They brought the ark of the Lord and set it in its place inside the tent that David had pitched for it, and David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings before the Lord. After he had finished sacrificing the burnt offerings and fellowship offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the Lord Almighty. Then he gave a loaf of bread, a cake of dates and a cake of raisins to each person in the whole crowd of Israelites, both men and women. And all the people went to their homes.” (NIV).

If you are a true worshipper, it has to overflow into your words and your actions. When true worship overflows into your words, you will discover that you become generous with your words: you bless people, your words build up, your words give life. It is impossible to live a life of true worship but when people engage you, they feel deflated or discouraged.

You cannot come from a time of true worship and have your first words be abuse. God's love has to overflow in you and through the words that you speak, into your actions. Our witness of the gospel is often hindered because we do not let our worship overflow into our words and deeds. You cannot love God without blessing people, you can't love God without giving to people. Blessing people and giving to people should flow from your knowledge of God. David shows us that when we are true worshippers, it overflows to the people around us. Everyone that day went home with a piece of cake; do the math, that's a lot of cake. I want to challenge you as you get deeper with God in worship and understanding Him, let it overflow into other people's lives.

#6. I Take The Same Attitude Home To My Family

You cannot be a saint in church and a rascal at home.

2 Sam. 6:20 says “When David returned home to bless his household…” (NIV).

It is not just about impressing people outside, what are the people closest to you saying about you? David did not just bless the people on the street, he went home to bless his household and even Michal’s sour attitude did not stop him from being a true worshipper. David shows us that the people you are blessing do not have to respond the way you expect them to respond. But it should not change who you are. The truth is that it is a misnomer to have a walk with God that does not impact your family, your children, your spouse.

As true worshippers, we have to take it back home and be consistent. Bless your home, bless your sons and your daughters. Be the priest and take God's Word to them. You have a duty to take the attitude of true worship home to your family.
