Life Of Integrity

DAY 26 OF 30

"Moses' Calling"

I remember when I went on my first long-term missions trip. I knew God was sending me because all of the planning fell into place so perfectly. I heard His voice call me. I also remember sitting on the flight down to South America when a sudden fear, followed by a question, came into my thought: Why me?

I was no one special. I didn’t know the Bible enough, and I certainly didn’t think of myself as an evangelist. I wasn’t brave enough, and I didn’t know how to talk to people. I had just become a Christian in the previous year. I was afraid because I had no idea what I was doing, or what to expect, but then God’s peace overwhelmed me. Suddenly, I knew that He was with me and would provide me with everything that I needed.

God spoke to Moses from the burning bush to inform him of his calling. The Lord said to Moses, “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.” Did Moses jump up and down with excitement at this hefty role that was suddenly placed upon his shoulders? Nope. Moses asked, “Who am I that I should go…?” Moses was resistant to an incredibly righteous task. He did not feel good enough, worthy enough, or strong enough. Moses pointed out his own faults to try and discourage the Lord, but God answered by saying, “I will be with you” and then He began to equip Moses with what he needed.

Just like Moses, we have all given excuses as to why we shouldn’t go or why we just can’t take up the calling. When we give excuses, we deny the power of God. The Father knows exactly what we need, and will equip us for what He has called us to.

Ask yourself, what is God calling me to do and how can I trust Him to provide what I need? You might just be surprised with His answer.
