Knowing Godনমুনা
Day 1: Knowing God
In the New Testament, Jesus makes his desire and concern for his followers clear. Jesus wants his followers to have eternal life, which comes from knowing God through the revelation of Jesus Christ.
As Jesus lived out his ministry here on earth, everything between his living and dying was done as a demonstration of God’s power and love on our behalf. It's essential to note the power Jesus had as he demonstrated it with miracles because to those who believe, he proves he has power over sin, the barrier that separates us from God. It is also important we notice his love demonstrated in the ways he cared for the sick and poor because by this love, we would know the great concern our Father in heaven has for those who would call on his name. Considering his power and love together, we see Jesus sitting before us as the only one powerful enough to overcome the wages of sin and loving enough to do it on our behalf. Jesus is the one true key to eternal life.
While Jesus’ desire for his followers is simple, it is also hard-won. Jesus overcame sin and the grave so that we have the potential to relate to God. While this is true, it does require a daily response from his followers. Our response to Christ’s powerful sacrifice requires that we treasure God above anything else in life, by resisting the temptation to place other things above relating to God.
Just as Jesus’ actions represented God so that we could know him, we pray each of us may imitate Jesus and point others to him so they too may know God. Our goal at Reach Records is to be an encouragement to you on your journey with Christ. That's why we’re excited to invite you to join in this study to discover what it means to Know God. We believe in the saving power of God in Christ, and we want more than anything for you to encounter him. We want you to experience the one true God and Jesus Christ, whom he has sent to rescue you from the effects of sin and shame so that you can experience eternal life in him.
Meditate on the following scripture: Psalm 119:1-2;5 (5 mins)
Reflect on the following: (10 minutes)
1. Has Knowing God been the highest priority in your life? If not, what has taken God’s place in your heart?
2. Has your definition of eternal life matched Jesus’ description?
Pray: I want to know what it means to know you. Please use this time to open my eyes to see Jesus for who he is, and to grow in my understanding of who you are and what this means for my daily life.
