Old Church Basement: Returning to Simple Worshipনমুনা
TALKING TO JESUS
Cause it’s not a religion
It’s more like a friendship
Just talk to your Father
Like you are his kid
Do you know someone who has a legacy of faith that you admire? Maybe it's a parent, grandparent, or pastor whose relationship with Christ reflects in everything they do.
There's nothing particularly special about people like this. They simply chose to make a habit of spending time talking with Jesus.
Did you know God wants to have a relationship like that with you?
We grow closer to the people we spend quality time with. In the same way, our relationship with God grows as we spend time in prayer.
We can find a good model for how this should look in 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18...
"Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus."
When is the last time you took five minutes to just talk to Jesus?
Your prayers don't have to be perfect for the Lord to hear you, and your life doesn't have to look perfect either.
God just wants to hear from you. He desires connection with you. So why not begin with an honest conversation?
The Bible tells us there is power in our prayers and the name of Jesus.
“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” - James 5:16
God doesn’t need your eloquent words. You are His son or daughter, and He wants you to draw close and lean on Him, even in your darkest moments.
There’s no wrong way to talk and connect with your Father. You can talk to Jesus anytime, no matter what you’re going through.
Just offer up a thought or a word to the King of Kings. Share with Him whatever you’re thinking about. Tell Him what's on your heart, and thank Him for who He is.
It’s not a religion, it’s more like a friendship. Just talk to God like He's your Father and like He's your friend - because that’s what He is.
