Victory In Hard Times – Know Who You Are
“Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. The disciples went and woke him, saying, 'Lord, save us! We're going to drown!' He replied, 'You of little faith, why are you so afraid?' Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm."
- Matthew 8:24-26 NIV
How in the world was Jesus able to sleep in the middle of the storm? He knew who He was, and He knew who the disciples that were with Him were. He knew that they could use their faith to calm the storm (hence verse twenty-six). But the problem here is that the disciples didn't know who they were!
When you know who you are, you will know that there is NOT a trial out there that is bigger than you. That doesn't mean you can make every problem go away immediately, but it does mean that you can overcome it, no matter how long it takes.
The ability to stand through a storm and overcome the storm comes from KNOWING WHO GOD MADE YOU TO BE and LIVING IN THAT REVELATION. I am not talking about personality traits such as shyness, a strong will, or expressiveness. I am talking about living in the identity of who you are in Christ.
There is a difference in HOW God made you and WHO He made you to be. Until you live in WHO God says you are, you won't be able to stand in a storm. You are made to identify with something. That's how God made you.
If you don't identify who you are with who God says you are, you will identify with other things that won't fill the need that you are looking for.
Who Does The Bible Say You Are?
1. You are stronger than the trial! The storm won't last forever. - 1 Corinthians 10:13
2. Jesus overcame the world, so no matter what comes, you are built to overcome it. - John 16:33
There are many more I could add. Look them up for yourself. Remind yourself of who God says you are, and you will be reminding yourself that you have the victory.

Confession Today
"I am a new creation in Christ. I will walk in victory in every trial that arises because I know who I am in Christ. God made me stronger than any storm, and I will use my authority to speak to them because I know who I am in Christ. I HAVE THE VICTORY IN EVERY TRIAL!"
About this Plan
We all experience hard times in life. But just because these times happen to us, it doesn't mean that we are automatically defeated. To live in victory, you will have trials to overcome. So, let's learn how to overcome them. To do this, you must know who you are, know what to say, and that victory is on the other side. Devon Daniel, Executive Pastor at Believer's Victory Church
