Day 3: Moving Mountains
Isaiah 43:19 “For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
God wants to do boundless, limitless great things in and through you. Do you believe it? But how? God tells us in Ephesians 3:20 “God can do anything, you know — far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us….” (MSG, emphasis added). Your dream is going to happen by God working within you. God actually wants to do great things with you. It may not look like it, or you may even be feeling stuck. However, that is why God is saying these things to you even now.
2 Corinthians 3:5 “Not that we are adequate in ourselves so as to consider anything as having come from ourselves, but our adequacy is from God.” (NASB, emphasis added). Our adequacy is from God, our adequacy is not from us. Yes, God can move mountains but God also wants to make you adequate to move the mountains through His power. God can make you adequate regardless of whether you see yourself as a big dreamer or a no dreamer.
Matthew 17:20 “…I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” (NIV).
If we are going to move mountains by His power, we have to THINK BIG and secondly, START SMALL. The challenge with the disciples then, and with many of us today, is that we look at the mountain that is before us and we want to have enough faith to move the mountain. But Jesus is saying, if you want to move mountains, you have to stop looking at the mountain and measuring your faith to the mountain. Jesus is saying, focus on Me, and put your faith in and trust in Me, the One with the power to move all the mountains in your life.
Guess what? Our faith is not in our faith. Our faith is in our God. If your faith is like the mustard seed and the mountain moves, who gets the credit? God, because you know without a doubt that He has done this. What is required to move the mountain sized problem is a mustard seed faith. It is not about how big your faith is, it is about how big your God is.
