Fruit Bowl

DAY 60 OF 63

What have you been saved for?

What have you been saved for? It’s a question we don’t often ask ourselves, which is funny, given that “saving” is a part of everyday life, and generally we tend to have a reason for it.

For example, we save money to spend it on a larger purchase like a car or a house, and we might save a chocolate bar to eat later when we are hungry. Saving always has a purpose, and God’s act of saving us is not exempt.

We often talk about being saved from our sin and death, but then end the story there. In this passage, Titus 2:11-14, we see that the grace of God has appeared, A.K.A. Jesus, and by God’s grace salvation from sin and death is available to everyone who responds to the grace of God (v.11).

God saves us from our sin so that we can be his own people – so that we can be people of God, not people against God. We know that this is easier said than done, but we shouldn’t let this get us down and make us feel that self-control is a hopeless endeavour. The beauty of grace is that cultivating self-control isn’t something we do on our own, but it flows from God directly - He journeys with us.

About this Plan

Fruit Bowl

Fruit Bowl is a 9-week deep dive into the Fruit of the Spirit put together by the Naujavan community. Jesus said, “This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples." Bearing the Fruit of the Spirit is the result of spending quality time with God, allowing Him to shape and form us.” We hope this devotional encourages you to do just that.
