The Gospel
So far, we've discovered that God has always desired to have a group of people who experience Him and then tell others about it so that they can experience Him too. In the Old Testament, God would raise up one individual to serve as a "chief witness" among the others. Then Jesus comes onto the scene and we find out that He is the ultimate "chief witness" who brings God's kingdom to the rest of the world. And now, today, we find ourselves in a situation similar to the one that the Israelites found themselves in thousands of years ago... Those of us all over the world who have experienced Jesus' love and power are now called to be his witnesses.
When we testify to what Jesus has done, what we are really doing is spreading the gospel, but what do we mean when we talk about "the gospel?" This video from The Bible Project should help you understand the gospel in a more complete way.
So, at the heart of the gospel is the royal announcement that Jesus is king, and that should have huge implications for those who hear this good news. As the video mentioned, "something happens when people really start living like Jesus is the king of the world."
Today, as we wrap up this reading plan, think about the following:
In what areas of your life are you really living like Jesus is the King of the world?
In what areas of your life are you not really living like Jesus is the King of the world?
If you were able to identify a few areas in the second category, don't feel bad. We all have them. That's why we need communities of people who want to come alongside each other and together live their lives like Jesus is King. Are there people or communities you can surround yourself with to make this happen? Reach out to them as soon as you can! Who knows, maybe one day you'll have a powerful testimony to share!
About this Plan
There is power in your testimony! Over the next six days, discover what it means to be a witness of Jesus and how the words you speak can help grow his kingdom.
