Jesus: The Death Killerনমুনা
There are three kinds of death spoken of in the New Testament.
The first is physical death. As we age, we don't know exactly how much time we have left. We know that we will die. Hebrews tell us it's appointed to man once to die, and after this, the judgment. We just don’t know when that day will be.
There is also what is called spiritual death. We were born into spiritual death. We walk in spiritual death. This is the result of mankind’s rebellion against God.
The third kind of death is eternal death. Those who face eternal death will be eternally separated from God. They will be forever apart from Him in the afterlife.
All three of these dimensions of death are relevant in Christ’s unbelievable, decisive, critical claim: “I am the resurrection and the life.” And John tells us that Jesus’ actions and assertions are recorded in his Gospel “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.” By believing in Jesus, you handle spiritual death. Because He is the resurrection, you will overcome physical death. And because He's the life, you will overcome eternal death. In every sense, Christ Jesus is the Death Killer.
About this Plan
Spend six days with Dr. Ramesh Richard, president of RREACH (a Global Proclamation Ministry) and professor at Dallas Theological Seminary, as he explores Christ’s work as the Death Killer. Though physical death is a reality for us all, there is hope—eternal life in Jesus’ name.
