Yesterday, we talked about bottom line behaviors. Today, we're taking a look at top line behaviors. These are the good habits and behaviors that we establish as part of our accountability.
The Scripture referenced talks not only about putting aside our sins (establishing bottom line behaviors) but also putting on the armor of light and behaving decently. We'd like to think of this as our top line behaviors, the good habits and behaviors we can put in place to keep us on the path of recovery and away from that line of acting out.
We suggest coming up with a list of five top line behaviors that you can put somewhere you will be able to see often (bathroom mirror, bedroom wall, car dashboard, etc.) and share a copy with your accountability partner(s).
Examples could include:
- I will join a small group at my church so I can learn to build healthy relationships.
- I will set aside quiet time every day to listen to uplifting worship music, study the Bible, or read a devotional.
- I will honor God with my body by creating a positive self-care habit like establishing a healthy eating habit, getting more sleep at night, or taking a walk or run every day.
