Gems of Wisdom From the Bibleনমুনা
Reflect God’s character in all of your life
When God revealed Himself to Moses, He proclaimed: “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness…” (Exodus 34:6). This is how God characterizes Himself! Today’s proverb encourages us to demonstrate this steadfast love and faithfulness permanently in our lives as well; in other words, to reflect God’s character.
Binding steadfast love and faithfulness around your neck and writing them on the tablet of your heart is a poetic exhortation to never forget these virtues. They should be always visible in your life, and they should shape your soul.
In the letter to the Galatians, these virtues are mentioned as fruit of the Holy Spirit. “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). So, if the Holy Spirit dwells in your heart, He will transform you according to the image of God. He will enable you to bear this fruit that pleases God.
If you were to describe your own character, would the words “loving” and “faithful” be applicable?
