THE CHARACTERISTICS OF RIGHTEOUS PEOPLE
Holding on to faith and a good conscience, which some have rejected and so have suffered shipwreck with regard to the faith. (1 Timothy 1:19)
What is God looking for in every believer's life? God seeks fruit from our lives: the fruit that results from living in righteousness. God has told us how to live fruitfully. He gives us the Bible and the Holy Spirit to teach and remind us of the truth. He gives us spiritual leaders who can guide us to grow. He also gives brothers and sisters in the faith who can strengthen and encourage us spiritually to keep going.
However, everything that God provides to us will only give real results if we are willing to live in humility. We need to have the willingness to continue learning and receiving every piece of advice that can build our spirituality. Our progress is not determined by how long we have been Christians, but by how well our hearts can accept the truth.
Studying the Word of God and listening to sermons that give us teaching, advice, and admonitions are the things that will improve us. Let our hearts be wide open to receive it because everything truthful that is conveyed to us is useful to build us up. When we reject God's rebuke and advice, we are hardening our hearts and causing our faith to stop growing.
Growing faith will continue to shape us to become more like Jesus Christ. With Christ-like character, we can have an impact on many people.
Our prayers will be powerful when we have the character of Christ. God has called us to be a house of prayer for all nations. The prosperity of our city and nation is influenced by the prayers of the righteous. The Holy Spirit is gentle and we should be willing to listen to Him when He speaks to us because He will lead us into truth. Hallelujah.
Let us ask God for a pure conscience.
