Swords Up: How to Use the Weapon of God’s Wordনমুনা
Principle #1: I prioritize hearing the teaching of God’s Word.
We have to intentionally build in time to regularly hear the teachings of God’s Word. For many, we allow our schedules and other commitments to drive the decision to attend church regularly. Then, when attacks arise we’re unarmed and defenseless. Let’s choose to be committed to prioritizing this in our lives and modeling this for our children.
I typically live out this principle by attending my local church’s weekly services. I also listen to a sermon podcast during the week from other pastors who aren’t in my local area. I encourage you to build in the habit of attending your local church’s weekend experience and, as a bonus, listen to a sermon podcast during the week.
Action Steps:
- Set a Time - Decide when you will attend a local church service. Then, guard it. The temptation to sleep in or not go will come, so be alert. Value this in your life.
- Accountability - If you can, invite a friend to join you. If they can’t attend with you, have them call you to make sure you didn’t oversleep or backout.
- Take Notes - Use a notebook or the Youversion Bible app to highlight any scriptures and jot down thoughts that speak to you from the sermon.
