Jonah – a Man With a Message নমুনা
A Message From God
Ninevah was a very large and important city. It was so big that it took three days to walk from one end to another!
As Jonah entered the enemy city, he proclaimed God’s words. “Forty more days and Ninevah will be destroyed!” Jonah walked throughout the wicked city, shouting God’s words to everyone.
The Ninevites did an amazing thing. They believed God! They believed the prophet Jonah’s words and immediately they repented from their wickedness.
To repent means to turn away from wickedness and turn to God. As soon as the Ninevite king heard God’s words, his heart softened and he commanded everyone in Ninevah to fast and pray and cry out to God.
“Give up your evil ways and your violence. Who knows? God may yet relent and with compassion turn from His fierce anger so that we will not perish.”
When God saw that the Ninevites were truly sorry for their wickedness and how they turned from their evil ways, He had compassion. He saved them from the destruction He had planned and spared the whole city.
What a happy ending! The Ninevites were extremely grateful that God had compassion for them. Their repentance lasted and kept the city from harm for many years. There was rejoicing throughout Ninevah!
