Celebrate Easter

DAY 11 OF 15

On the Friday of Easter, Christians around the world observe Good Friday. Why is it called Good Friday when it’s about Jesus’ death? It is thought that originally this day was called, “God’s Friday,” or “Holy Friday.” What is GOOD about Jesus’ death on the cross is that we are saved from sin, and as Christians, we know that Jesus rose again three days later. For the disciples, it wasn’t a good Friday. The Bible tells us in John chapter 20 that the disciples – Jesus’ closest friends – were huddled inside a home, “with all the doors and windows locked,” after the death of Jesus. Just two days before, they had watched as the Son of God died on a cross. They were devastated, for they didn’t know the end of the story.

On Easter Sunday we celebrate that Jesus rose again! Maybe it should be called GOOD FRIDAY and AMAZING SUNDAY! God loves us so much that He gave us a Saviour, Jesus, who overcame death and is worthy of our praise.
