Never Alone

DAY 5 OF 7

Day 5: Unending Grace

“I’ve found unending grace, when I called on your name.”

Again and again, the Bible calls us sinners because for as long as we have been breathing oxygen we have repeatedly rejected God’s outstretched hands and done it all with the same phrase on our lips: nobody’s perfect

Nobody’s perfect is an interesting term. When you think about it, nobody’s perfect basically means that we all have a long list of minor (and sometimes major) stuff that it would be too tedious to write. If I were to list your imperfect deeds, would I have enough room to display all your mess?

No.

None of us do.

Yet, God is collecting our list as articles of evidence in a case. Stealing, sexting, envy, cutting others down, piracy, bullying, etc.

A case?

Yes.

A case against you and I.

A judgement.

However, the news is not all bleak. God has shown us the greatest example of mercy in Jesus Christ. He stacked every piece of evidence in a case against himself. The pinnacle of God’s judgement is seen in Jesus on the cross, where God placed every sin that we committed and judged His Son in our place.

“All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood.” Romans 3:23 – 26

What do you call something you completely didn’t deserve?

Grace.

It’s the unmerited favour of God. You could not earn it through religion or buy it over the counter, yet you could not stand before God without it. Grace makes him look so beautiful, for who else could pay my debt?
