Getting Ready-21 Days of Prayerনমুনা
Can you feel the love? That’s the question many in the world ask themselves when they look at Christians. Jesus said our love for one another will prove to the world that we are HIS disciples. How often are we mindful of this reality? It’s actually terrifying when you think about it. It’s actually a lot of pressure. Do we take the time to love our neighbor? I know this is something I tend to forget, if I’m honest.
I’m not just talking about being “nice” or “helpful”. While those are certainly beautiful actions, they don’t always equal love. If we truly loved one another we would care about more than their feelings, we would care about their eternity. When we live truly devoted lives to Christ, our love will show in ways that point toward Jesus. When people see our actions they should want what we have: Christ.
Today’s verse comes moments before Jesus predicts that, despite his best intentions, Peter will deny him. This is a painful section of the bible to read because I relate with Peter. I set out to be a good example of Christ but fall short when it truly counts. It’s difficult to have the courage to live a life that reflects Christ because, let’s face it, Christ's views are not always the most popular.
Like Peter, we love to say we’ll do anything for Jesus, but when we’re put to the test we act like we don’t know him. As believers, we're called to be fully devoted followers of Christ. We have to live our lives daily in a way that is pleasing to Him. Like Peter, we will fail; but we must continuously realign ourselves with Christ. It’s a daily process.
Challenge: Search inward. Where is the love? Are you loving? I challenge you to find one way for you to show Christ’s love this week. Don’t just check it off a list. Pray and ask God to show you opportunities to be his hands and feet. Don’t stop there, work this into your daily routine.
Prayer Prompt: Jesus, thank you for being the ultimate example of Love. Teach me to live as a daily example of your Grace and Love.
