Forty Days Without Fearনমুনা
OVERCOMING FEAR OF FAILURE Part Three
[Leave the past behind]
Most people I know are fearful of change, even if it’s a change to something better. I believe the number one reason why, is down to the fear of failure. I know this because I have been like it myself! I remember times when I could see a new way of doing things, which I knew would be better in the long run, but I didn’t pursue change because the thought of succeeding was overshadowed the fear of failing.
Today’s verses tell us to forget the past times of failure and to make way for the new - new strategies and solutions, new opportunities. Fear of failure based on past experiences, prevents innovation and stops us from trying new things God has for us. Our failures shouldn’t make us run from God, they should actually cause us to run towards Him for restoration and fresh opportunities!
The US politician, Robert F Kennedy, said, ‘Only those who dare to fail greatly can ever achieve greatly.’
We need to create a culture where it is OK to try something and risk failing without being labelled a failure. A culture like this is not a ‘blame and shame’ culture when an attempt to innovate and change things doesn’t work out, but one where everyone rallies together to help fix the problem, regardless of who caused it.
Action – Think about and pray into how we can help apply this verse to our lives, not letting our past experiences stop us moving forward to make positive changes. Consider how we can help to create a culture of positive failure within our homes, colleges, workplaces or other spheres of influence. What does God want us to know about this?
