Seven Days of Being a Woman Up Leaderনমুনা
DAY 6: Pass the Test
Being an anti-gravity leader means leading when you don’t want to. Maybe during this devotional you have thought “Do I lead like an anti-gravity leader?”. There is no better moment to find out than when you are going through a difficult situation. The Bible talks about how gold put through the fire becomes “proven pure” and the same applies to us as Christ followers and leaders. Fire will either burn you or purify you.
It makes me think of the incredible story of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. These three Jewish boys passed the test of anti-gravity leadership when King Nebuchadnezzar commanded that everyone bow down but they remained standing, knowing that they would be thrown into a fiery furnace that was sure to kill them.
My favorite part is when the young men courageously declared to the king, “our God whom we serve is able to rescue us from the furnace of blazing fire, and He will rescue us from your hand, O king. But even if He does not, let it be known to you, O king, that we are not going to serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up!” (Daniel 3:17-18)
It’s one thing to obey when there’s a reward, in this case the reward of God’s rescue. But when you are willing to obey at all costs, even the cost of your own life, when you are willing to say, “even if He does not (rescue or answer our prayers or get me out of a fire), I will still obey"…that is a picture of passing the test, being refined as gold. And guess what, God stepped into their fire. He is still stepping into our difficult situations with us.
How are you in moments of great pressure? Are you an anti-gravity leader, or do you conform to the pattern of the world?
Today, I want to challenge you to examine your heart, pray, fast, worship, and prepare your heart to pass the test that is ahead. You are called to be an anti-gravity leader.
