God’s Promise will be Fulfilled
And the Lord appeared to him and said, “Do not go down to Egypt; dwell in the land of which I shall tell you. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with you and will bless you, for to you and to your offspring I will give all these lands, and I will establish the oath that I swore to Abraham your father.”
Genesis 26:2-3
In Genesis 26, we see Isaac being afraid of the Philistines and lying to them that Rebekah was his sister. He made the same mistake as his father Abraham in Genesis 12 – he lied to the Egyptians that Sarai was his sister.
But God has made a covenant with Abraham and Isaac, and He redeemed them from their mistakes and put them on the right path.
In Genesis 27, Rebekah and Jacob were treacherous in their dealings with Isaac, and Jacob stole the birthright blessings of his brother Esau. Rebekah paid dearly and never saw her favourite son again. Jacob had to escape from the wrath of Esau and led a hard life. But in Genesis 28, Jacob saw the stairway to heaven and God appeared to Jacob in a dream, reminding him of the covenant. The flaws of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob did not stop God from fulfilling His purpose in their lives.
Prayer:
Dear God, You are our good Father, and we pray that You will cut off any generational pattern that is not from You. We are not perfect but yet You choose to use ordinary individuals like us to execute Your extraordinary purpose. We are in Your covenant and Your goodness never changes. Thank You for this truth. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

About this Plan
Everyone has an origin. It explains why we are here, and who we really are. But what about the origin of mankind? The answer lies in the book of Genesis, which means “in the beginning”. The book will help us understand the beginning of creation, the fall of mankind and unfolds God’s redemptive plan for humanity. Please join us as we journey Through The Bible starting with Genesis.
