The Gift: Advent Bible Planনমুনা
All is Bright
“I don't know how else to tell you this
I thank You, Lord, You saved my life
I say Your Name and You listenin'
I almost left, You got me right
I came out the slums
The dealers, the users, the bongs
The scammers, the hustlers, and drugs
I had enough
I need that light of the love
I'll never run off on the plug”
The distance between heaven and humanity is immeasurable. This is true in part because the distance is not based on location, but on relationship. The Bible teaches us to regard the consequence of sin as a break in relationship with a holy and pure God.
Think about the moment Adam and Eve sinned. God’s questioning “where are you?”, as they hid from him in the garden is probably best understood as a question regarding relationship and not location. The all seeing and all knowing God must’ve known where Adam and Eve were located. For our understanding, we’d probably need to look at the question as God asking Adam and Eve if they knew where they were in relation to him.
If we pay attention to what happened after Adam and Eve sinned, we see they were removed from God’s presence. This is the great curse sin brought on mankind—distance in relationship to God. In this case, the darkness brought on by sin is the absence of God’s brilliant presence in our lives.
In God’s kindness, he didn’t resign us to live in darkness forever. He shines his light on humanity by sending Jesus Christ, to be born into the world and face the darkness of death in a tomb. This display of God’s love is not contained to this one point in human history. It is the reference point we as believers can look to and understand there is no depth we sink to, that the light of Christ has not already gone first to redeem us.
The radiance of God’s presence is brighter than the sun which gives light to all we see. Additionally, there is no distance Christ has not gone, including becoming a man, dying on a cross and being buried in a tomb to pursue humanity. In light of this we can truly say, “All is bright”! Praise God for sending his Son Jesus into the world and unleashing his relentless love in pursuit of our hearts!
Prayer: Pray and give thanks to God for sending his love and warmth in the presence of Christ Jesus!
