Journaling Gratitudeনমুনা
Devotional: TRIALS
James starts off his letter to the churches by asking them to consider it ‘joy’ when they encounter trials of any kind. He also goes on to explain why one must rejoice in tough times — because it builds perseverance.
Perseverance is this steely-eyed resolve and grit that you only develop when you’re in a difficult or stressful situation. Somehow, the nature of perseverance is such that it can’t be gifted or magically acquired. It has to be developed — under much pressure.
Today, thank God for some of the difficult situations you’ve experienced this year and the lessons those situations have taught you. Thank God for helping you develop perseverance in the face of trials.
Journaling Prompt: WATERFALL
Someone said, “Waterfalls wouldn’t sound so melodious if there were no rocks in their way.” That’s such a great way to look at trials — obstacles that only make our journey more powerful and beautiful.
Today, use your journal to depict a waterfall creatively, and as you do that, remind yourself that you must be grateful for every trial you’ve faced this year. Thank God for the perseverance that is developing in you.
