BECOMING A CHANNEL OF BLESSING
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that you through His poverty might become rich. (2 Corinthians 8:9)
Why did the believers in Macedonia receive praise from Paul? Because even though they were in the midst of great trials, they were willing to collect funds to help the people of Jerusalem who were experiencing difficulties. Willingness to give is proof that the believers in Macedonia were not selfish.
Isn’t this the same as what Jesus did for us? Jesus, who was rich in glory was willing to come to the earth and become poor so that we who are poor would become rich and glorified.
The Apostle Paul said that people are cared for when abundance supplies the lack. Jesus has shown a good example. God has saved us by His abundant love. It is our duty to share the love we received to others through our gift.
Do not withhold seeds that you need to sow. Instead, be a channel of blessings so that through you the name of God is glorified. God has provided us seeds in the blessings we received—through our business, our job, and our income. Do not eat all of the seeds, otherwise you will not have seeds to sow. Without sowing, you will not be reaping.
So, we need to separate out of our income which is bread and which are seeds. Bread is for us to consume. Seeds are for us to sow. And when we sow, we should sow bountifully and then we will reap bountifully, too.
Give, not grudgingly or of necessity, but give cheerfully, because it is better to give than to receive.
Do not withhold seeds that you need to sow. Instead, be a channel of blessings so that through you the name of God is glorified.
