How To Journey Into the Unknown

DAY 3 OF 3

Day 3: Go for Fulfilment; Not Money

“They are fooled by the desire to get rich and to have all kinds of other things . . . and they never produce anything.” (Mark 4:19 CEV)

As I mentioned two days ago, I had other options prior to this pursuit. Between February and April, I had been offered a job at a bank, a managerial role in a government-owned resource centre, and I had a teaching role on the queue. Monetarily, all those other options were more promising, but I found that I made the right call in prioritising fulfilment over money.

It is faulty thinking to reason that what God is calling you to do—or what you feel passionate about—won’t bring you profit. It is such reasoning that makes people postpone the discovery and pursuit of their calling (and the discovery is as important as the pursuit).

In fact, taking money out of the equation has helped many people discover their purpose in life. They asked themselves,

If money was not going to be a limitation:
What would I create?
Who would I help?
What would I contribute?
What would an ideal day look like for me?

As Jesus said, "You can’t worship the true God while enslaved to the god of money!” (Matthew 6:24 TPT). What I have realised over the years is that when you discover your calling, it is like finding the task for which the Creator created you, and He never sends anyone on a mission without making adequate provision to see the mission accomplished. Eventually, your calling will attract dividends. Sometimes, it will be monetary, other times it will be in forms weightier than money. In either case, you are fulfilled. Nothing beats that.

So my question to you today is this: What would you do, if you could, for free?

Over to you . . .

  • Answer that question honestly — “What would you do, if you could, for free?”
  • You can share this insightful question with someone in your world that needs it, too.
