DAY 4 OF 6

Day 4: It’s a Miracle

Thirty years ago, it would’ve been hard to imagine a person soaring above the earth on a platform of tiny drones. (Warning: Don’t try this at home!) And nobody could have guessed that doctors would be able to perform surgery on a patient thousands of miles away using TV cameras and robotic arms. That’s amazing.

Speaking of TVs, companies have developed screens so thin that they come rolled up in a tube. Simply unroll the screen, mount it on a wall, and voilà—instant theater.

When you look at technological advances, it’s easy to think we live in an age of miracles. But the true age of miracles occurred thousands of years ago when Jesus came to earth.

The books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John record more than thirty of Jesus’ miracles. He healed the sick, caused the lame to walk, opened the eyes of the blind, raised the dead to life, fed more than five thousand people with one lunch, cast out evil spirits, caused a coin to appear in the mouth of a fish, walked on water, and much more!

Looking at a list is pretty amazing. But consider this fact: Jesus did lots of other miracles that aren’t even recorded in the Bible.

Read through the Gospels or go to a website with your parents that lists Jesus’ miracles. Some Bibles even have a list in the back. Which miracle amazes you the most?

Do you know why Jesus performed miracles? Some of His miracles fulfilled prophecies that were written down hundreds of years before He was born. But the apostle John provided an answer to that question in John 20:31 when he wrote, “These are written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God, and that by believing you may have life in his name.”

Defend Your Faith

Jesus wanted to show the world that He was the promised Messiah. He came to save and heal. Not only did He perform the ultimate miracle by dying and rising from the dead to save us from our sins, but He physically healed people as a sign of His power. Nothing could keep Jesus from doing everything the Father sent Him to do.

We may not be able to witness Jesus heal a leper or feed thousands of hungry people with a single granola bar today. But when you stop and look around, you can see God at work. The same God who performed miracles thousands of years ago, still performs them today.
