Delight in His Law
What is the greatest key to fruitfulness in church planting? What is needed if we truly want to see thousands of people come to know the Lord and many hundreds of house churches planted? This passage in Psalms says that the person who delights in the Law of God, and who meditates on God’s Word, will yield much fruit in season. It says that whatever that person does will prosper. For our frontline workers, it means they will see the multiplication of disciples and churches—supernatural increase—because church planting is what they do!
It is easy for busy church planters to get their focus on the work and off of God. If this happens, they read the Bible only to prepare stories or to prepare for discipleship times. Time alone with God takes second place, with ministry coming first. The pressures are great. People come to their houses all hours of the day and night, and their phone is constantly ringing with this problem or that.
The person who delights in God’s Word and meditates on it will see fruitfulness. They will not be burned out and exhausted by the strain of the constant demands. Their roots will go down deep and be planted in the streams of water so their soul will be refreshed in God. Out of this abundance and spiritual health comes the fruit of many people knowing and receiving Jesus.
Let’s all commit ourselves to be students of the Word of God, to meditate on it daily, to delight in spending time allowing God’s Word to speak deeply into our hearts. And let’s believe God for increase and growth in our fruitfulness.
Personal questions to consider:
1. How often do you meditate on God’s Word? What helps you to think about it and allow it to speak to your heart?
2. What will help you grow in the spiritual discipline of Bible study and Scripture meditation this week?
Pray for the frontline workers to:
1. Not allow busyness to draw them away from quality time with God. To faithfully meditate upon His Word and allow it to speak to their hearts.
2. Effectively teach their disciples to love the Word of God and meditate upon it daily.
