True Identity
READY
“For in Christ lives all the fullness of God in a human body. So you also are complete through your union with Christ, who is the head over every ruler and authority.” Colossians 2:9-10 NLT
SET
The world’s definition of excellence is just based on winning games. As soon as you’re not winning, it seems like no one wants to talk to you or be your friend. It’s easy to get down on yourself. It’s all about performance.
It’s like building your house on the sand. The ground isn’t solid and can’t hold the house up properly. Eventually, the house will fall because no one is perfect. When you find your identity in Christ and in what He’s done for you, it’s the unchanging, solid rock that you can always stand on. You can have a much better view of yourself and where you can find hope. When we don’t perform well, we can lose our hope and our joy. I lose my joy. But when you find your identity in Christ, that’s unchanging. No matter what you do, you can’t mess that up.
To be excellent is to get back up even after you’ve fallen. Know that your reason for getting back up is to honor God and what His Son did for us. Jesus is our Savior and will not let us fail if we trust in Him!
