I Amনমুনা
Know You
I was born and raised in church. Though I spent most of my life experiencing and feeling God, I came to a place where I realized I didn’t really know Him. I knew of Him, I knew what He could do, and I loved Him, but I didn’t REALLY know Him. Sometimes we connect God to a place, people, or even experiences. As soon as we are disconnected from those things we fall apart. I’ve seen it happen so many times with people who put their faith in people in high positions at a church, or they put their faith in rules or religion and a lifestyle that people have deemed to be “righteous.” We have to get to the place where we put our faith in God only, where we are rooted with God only. We have to take the time to get to know Jesus for who He is, not who others say He is, but who He is to and for you.
I want to know God for myself. I shouldn’t have to only go to church to get a word from Him. I want to live with him every day and have encounters with him every day. I hope this encourages you to dig deep into your relationship with God. Have you been having a relationship with church or a lifestyle over a relationship with God? Have you been putting your faith in other people’s words over God’s words?
Father I pray you reach into the hearts of your people in this season and turn it toward You. I speak against anything that would separate us from You. Open our spiritual eyes to be able to see You for exactly who You are. We want to encounter You for ourselves. We want to hear You speak for us in our everyday lives. We want to know You. We want to show You that nothing matters more than knowing You—no purpose, no accomplishment, no award, no position—nothing matters more than knowing who You are. Take us past the shallows father. Take us deeper. In Jesus name, amen.
