10 Steps Ahead: A Growth Devotional with Adia Petersonনমুনা
Introduction: A "Head Start"
When David had to flee for his life from King Saul, his relationship with God experienced so many ups and downs. He was really emotionally honest and open with the Lord about how he felt, asking questions like was God seeing what he was going through? Would He defend him against his enemies? Was God even still with him?
His circumstances forced him to make some hard calls about the status of his faith! In the Psalms, we see that more times than not, he chose to believe, but it was such a crazy ride getting to that place.
Even though each of our individual journeys are different, we all share this common thing called life! And when what we are looking for just cannot be found in this world, having a solid relationship with God that you can rely on is everything. Closeness with God is a day-by-day thing. There’s no magic; you just have to put in the work.
As you read this devotional, challenge yourself to stick with it. Commit, whether you feel it or not, because you are disciplining your will to be faithful and consistent with God. If we have the opportunity to know Him more, to know Him better, why not go for it? I know that 10 days of devotionals aren’t going to change everything you need God to do in your life right now, but I am confident finishing this 10-day challenge will put you just that much ahead.
Prayer Today:
God thank you for giving me the grace to press closer to you. Open my eyes and strengthen my faith as I commit to spending time in your word and in your presence. I believe you are for me and with me. In Jesus' name, amen.
Think On It:
What, if anything, has kept you from committing to a daily routine with God? What's one step you could take today that would bring you closer to Him?
