Living by Faith

DAY 10 OF 24

Waiting for God’s Answer

Atheists love to deride the Christian faith as one that is dead. They paint a picture of faith as an empty sepulchre where questions regarding faith are ignored and the only answers are the echoes of your own reverberating voice. However, Habakkuk paints a picture of faith that is vibrant and living. God takes seriously our questions and doubts. Moreover, He answers them. God is not perturbed by our queries and hesitations. The real question is, are we are willing to wait for the answer?

The prophet likens himself to a guard standing atop a tower, waiting for a messenger running from the far horizon. The prophet, having made his complaint, is confident that his Lord has heard his concern and will respond. He is so confident that he withdraws himself from the crowd and waits for the Lord to speak into his life. Such was the certainty of Habakkuk’s faith. Habakkuk had serious issues over God’s dealing with Judah, however he comes to the Lord with a heart willing to listen. He knows that God’s thoughts are not his, and neither are God’s ways his ways (Isaiah 55:8). God in His infinite wisdom and knowledge always makes the right decision.

This was also King David’s confidence during times of trial when he says, “in the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly (Psalm 5:3, NIV).” God hears and answers our groans, doubts and questions. We are often quick to voice out our complaints and needs to God. We speak much in prayer. However, are we also willing to wait patiently and expectantly, knowing our God speaks in His word? The Bible reveals God’s answer to all our needs.

About this Plan
