DAY 3 OF 15

 God of All ‘gods’

1 Chronicles 16:25

The Lord is great; He should be praised. He should be honored more than all the gods.

There was a war between the Israelites and the Philistines. The Israelites were defeated, Eli’s sons were killed and, worst of all, the Ark of the Covenant of God was taken by the Philistines! They brought the Ark of the Covenant to the city of Ashdod. The Philistines placed the Ark of the Covenant in their temple next to their god named Dagon.

What happened next?

Dagon fell to the ground before the Ark of God. The people of Ashdod were struck with tumors. Even when they moved the Ark of God to other cities, in Gath and Ekron the same disaster happened. Deadly destruction occurred throughout all the cities where the Ark of God was brought. No one could handle the tragedy. Not even their god could help them! The Philistines learned the hard way that no one could stand against the Lord.

The Ark of the Covenant represents God’s presence. Dagon could not stand in the presence of God because God is holy, and He is the true God while Dagon is a false god. God is powerful and almighty. Nothing and no one can stand against Him.

Aren’t we blessed that we believe in the true God and God of all gods?

Prayer

Dear God, let me sing praise and glory to Your name because You alone are the true God. You are worthy of all honor and praise. Amen.
