There's Hope For Today

DAY 49 OF 366

Take care of the little things in life and the big things will fall into place.

The first attempt at creating the Panama Canal was made by the French in 1882. They hired the world’s foremost engineer, Ferdinand de Lesseps, who had recently completed the Suez Canal. The work was abandoned, however, just six years after it began. The height of the mountains was nothing compared to the bite of the mosquito. Yellow fever and malaria savaged the work force. The mountains would not be conquered until the mosquito was controlled.

A lot of people try to tackle the mountains without first dealing with the mosquitoes. They take short cuts around character issues, thinking that a position will grant them the standing they should have gained through process. When trouble comes, they can’t fight the fever and disaster soon follows. God always tests us first in the small things. King David had to learn how to lead sheep before he could lead people. Big dreams require great vision and great courage, but they are only achieved if we have taken the small steps first.

Be faithful in the little things today. They ultimately determine your tomorrow.
