There's Hope For Today

DAY 259 OF 366

Life goes in circles. It’s funny how a change in seating alters one’s perspective. When I was 17, a girl’s father had the audacity to “discourage” me from pursuing his daughter. He talked in poorly constructed parables and uttered thinly veiled threats. I heeded his warnings, and labeled him a jerk!

From my present seating at life’s table, he now seems to be a very reasonable man. As a matter of fact, I’ve strengthened one of his parables (the parable of the lost limb) and made it my own. His “threats” now seem to me as firm promises. When my daughters reached the dating years, I was just getting over the shock that they would actually want to go to dinner with any other male besides me. People would say, “Don’t you remember how it was when you were 17?”

Of course I did – which explained my Rottweiler and gun collection. I didn’t think I was being too unreasonable. A three-generation background check can give a young man a deep appreciation for his family heritage.

Promises can really motivate a young mind. So watch what you sow – harvest is coming!
