There's Hope For Today

DAY 219 OF 366

Ambassadors must never forget where their allegiance lies. If an ambassador becomes too rooted in his assigned country, he may neglect his core responsibility: To represent his king.

He is far from home, subject to temptation, pressured to compromise, and plied with comforts. One day the ambassador wakes up to realize that he doesn’t feel like an alien, or think like an alien, or act like an alien – he considers himself quite at home. On that day, the ambassador is prone to fail amidst great comforts, forgetting his allegiance – his homeland – his master – his purpose. Ambassadors for Christ must be constantly reminded that Jesus’ Kingdom is not of this world (John 18:36). We are aliens (1 Peter 2:11). We have become new creatures in Christ (2 Cor. 5:17). The only reason we have for being here is to speak for Christ, to love like Christ, to live in Christ, and to be canvas on which God paints redemption’s story!

Ambassadors must not sell out. They could be recalled for an accounting any day – at any hour. The distinction between the Kingdom of God and the kingdom of darkness must weigh constantly on the ambassador’s heart. His calling is an honor – and a trust!

Have you pledged your allegiance today?
