Real Hope: Unchanging Nature Of Godনমুনা
A SLICE OF BREAD
Following the horrors of World War 2, thousands of children were left homeless and alone. Some found care in makeshift orphanages or refugee camps. However, no adult’s soothing words could bring them a peaceful night’s sleep. Then a teacher suggested giving each child a slice of bread just before bedtime. The little ones slept, often placing the bread under their pillows, knowing that if all else should change that night, there would still be food tomorrow.
What fears or unknowns have left you sleep deprived lately? Attempting to find rest, the Psalmist looks to the heavens to find his peace. He declares that his Creator’s faithfulness is unchanging across the generations.
As David looked to the sky, he had no concept of light speed or light years. That the sunlight he bathed in departed the sun more than eight minutes before he felt its warmth. Or that the flickering lights in the night sky commenced their journey to earth years before.
What a wonderful truth for us today. God is timeless. He doesn’t live in my time zone – but across generations. He is in motion long before we notice.
Calling out to God is vital in maturing our relationship with Him; however, just as the starlight light David saw in the night sky, God is way ahead of us. It’s comforting to know that when we pray we aren’t catching God up. He has always been ahead of us.
