The Goal: Great Commission
Ready:
“Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.” – Matthew 28:19
Set:
One of the most compelling factors in Jesus’s ministry was that He had a clear game plan. He knew what He came to Earth to do, and everything He did was driven from this purpose. He walked in step with the Father and looked to do His will completely, and He made sure the disciples clearly understood the need to believe in Him whom the Father sent, preach Christ crucified and go into the world and make disciples.
The disciples spent three and a half years training for the main goal: to take the good news of Jesus to the nations. The glue that held the disciples together was Jesus and His radical, revolutionary message. The hinge for humanity hung on His life, death and resurrection, and Jesus made 100% certain His group not only recognized the voice of their Teacher but believed Him wholeheartedly. Jesus poured into His team, engaged them in conversation through teachable moments and equipped them with the Holy Spirit once He had left Earth to return to Heaven.
God powerfully moves among the Earth to assemble a team willing to mold their hearts to His, surround themselves with teammates that share the same goal and are willing to step out in a faith emboldened by the saving work of Christ on the cross.
In short, Team Jesus includes:
● A coach with a sharp eye for great recruits
● Teammates with open and loyal hearts
● One common goal that unites and empowers action
Jesus has empowered us to go out into our schools, our jobs, our teams and our families and represent Team Jesus. Jesus is always looking to add more people to His team, and no tryouts are necessary. Just an open heart to receive Him and a teachable spirit to walk in His truth.
It’s the mandate by our Coach: “Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.”
Who will you recruit for Team Jesus today?
Go:
1. Will you respond to the mandate to go and make disciples?
2. Why is it so important to have a common goal?
3. Who are three people who need to know about Jesus? Find a way to tell them about Jesus.
Workout:
John 20:21; Acts 1:6-8; Romans 10:15
Overtime:
What a privilege it is to serve You! You are a great Teacher and incredible Savior. Today I gladly call myself a teammate in Christ, and I am ready to share the good news of the Gospel with whoever You place in my path today. Help my eyes and heart stay open to see what You are doing in and around me. Amen.
