The Bible Quarantine: Episode 7 - Is This The End?
SCRIPTURE: John 4-6
Our world is filled with apocalyptic movies about the end of the world. We’re fascinated by thinking about how it will all end. So how should we respond in a time of crisis or fear? Jesus tells us in Matthew 24.
Jesus uses the term “birth pain” to describe the end of the age. When a woman feels the pain of birth, then you know a life-changing event is imminent. When we see wars and plagues, it’s a sign for us to get ready.
So is this end of the world? What matters is how we respond. Jesus told us to not be alarmed. What the world needs is not more scared people. What the world needs are people with perspective and hope. Here are three ways you can live with perspective in these days.
- Choose faith over fear. Every day, you can choose whether you will trust your fear and anxiety or whether you will trust in Jesus.
- Consider changes you need to make. There are good ways to respond and bad ways to respond in a time of crisis. We can live in fear or numb our pain. Or, instead, we can ask whether we’re living for what really matters. Consider what needs to change.
- Consider your relationships and talk about what matters most. It’s so easy to talk about things that don’t really matter. When hard times, we talk about what matters most. Take this time to share Jesus and get right with family and friends.
Post about your faith on social media today. Be vulnerable about your struggles in front of others and invite others in. God is near. The end might be near, but the end isn’t the end for those who love Jesus.
