Calling - Finding Fulfillment In Your Workনমুনা
“What am I working toward?” Every man wants to know the purpose of his labor.
Scripture says that God makes mountains low and valleys high (Isaiah 40:4), meaning that all you have to do is walk the path in front of you, seeking the Lord at each turn. He does the hard work of path making for you. Recall Romans 8:28: “We know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.”
All around you, the Spirit of God is at work in unseen ways. Part of his work is to meticulously orchestrate all things for your good. This includes the things that don’t match your expectations. This includes fires that get out of hand. This includes the fallouts of finance and career. This includes the unknown. For those who love Him, "all things" really does mean “all things.”
If you desire to know God’s purpose for you, you will need to pursue Him. If you cannot determine what He is doing with you, a great question you can ask is “Lord, are you pruning me or planting me?”
That question will lead you to the discovery of what people, projects, and plans are already in the works on your behalf. God is always at work, and things are already being arranged so that you can focus on other matters of importance for the kingdom.
Tomorrow we’ll look more at pruning and then we’ll talk about planting in order to see what God may be doing through each season.
Father, I trust that you are working all things for my good. I trust that the people and situations you bring into my life are for my benefit. Thank you for your willingness to guide me and walk with me throughout my workday.
