DAY 3
DEVOTIONAL – BEING PRODUCTIVE
We have looked at Purpose. Today we will look at Production. Legacy building in the kingdom of God happens when we invest in other people. It is not building monuments but investing our lives, gifts and abilities in other people so that they carry on the work long after we are gone.
As someone said our Christian, life is an eternal relay. A baton was handed to us by the previous generation and we have a responsibility to handed it over to the next.
Building a legacy is in God’s DNA too. In order to leave a legacy we need to understand that creating and procreating is in the very nature of God. He has put the same DNA in us, as we are “His image bearers”.
We were created to create, care for and contribute to the earth.
The command that God gave Adam to steward and multiply still holds good today. Jesus reinforced it in the great commission – to go into all the world and make disciples.
Jesus spoke a lot about stewardship and multiplication. Just look at the parable of the talents, the wise manager etc., etc. In all these parables, God expected the person to multiply whatever was entrusted to them. God is always looking for a return on his investment in us. It is there in Genesis and it is there is Revelation.
More than 40 verses in the New Testament alone talk about rewards. This is important. How we steward all areas of our life is important, whether it is our personal life, work, home, marriage, children, neighbourhood, material possessions, spiritual life, or church community.
Before we get it twisted, let me remind us, that we are saved by grace. We are not saved by works, but for works.
What is the heart of a legacy builder? What version of Christianity will your children or grandchildren enjoy because of what you invested into the kingdom? Let us leave a better version of Christianity behind and not a diluted one. Let us leave a better world behind for our children and their children. Our ceiling should be the floor that the next generation stands on. They need to go farther and faster than any of us. Legacy builders think about the quality of life for the future generations.
About this Plan
As Christ-followers we are all called to make an impact on our generation and leave a legacy behind. It is intrinsic in the Great Commission. A legacy is left in people, not institutions. We hope this 5-day devotional written by Navaz D'Cruz will inspire you to begin building toward a legacy that will live beyond you.
