DAY 33 OF 43

THE HEAD AND NOT THE TAIL

On February 15 2017, Indonesia held simultaneous local elections (PILKADA). The officers chosen in these elections, including the Head of the region, would be sworn in. In a Indonesian dictionary, oath has three meanings. First, a formal statement in which God acts as the witness with the purpose to strengthen the oath’s truth and sincerity. Second, a statement with determination to do things truthfully or with the willingness to accept the consequences if what he says is not right. Third, an unwavering promise or pledge (to accomplish something).

David also made a vow to God that he would become a king that would live without blemish. He would uphold the will of God for justice and avoid corruption (verse 3-4). Even after the kingdom of Israel ended, this psalm is still mentioned to remember God’s will for everyone.

The Lord will make you the head, not the tail….(Deut 28:13). Being the head or leader is not a position or title; it’s God’s will for our lives. The Lord only asks us to listen to His commands and do them faithfully. Make a vow to God just like David made a vow. Pay your vow.

God's position for you is to be on top and never at the bottom.
