Falling Deeper in Love With Godনমুনা
IT'S ALL ABOUT THE HEART
The Bible calls King David, “a man after God’s own heart” (see 1 Samuel. 13:14). Even after David slept with another man’s wife and then had him killed, God forgave him when he repented and still called him a man after His own heart in the New Testament (see Acts 13:22). God loved David’s heart toward Him.
But the same wasn’t true with David’s son Solomon. First Kings 11:4 says, “For it was so, when Solomon was old, that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his heart was not loyal to the Lord his God, as was the heart of his father David.” To God, that was the worst thing that could happen—He lost Solomon’s heart.
You can see from theses verses that God’s heart is toward mankind. He did everything in His power to bring us back to His heart—He sent Jesus. All He wants from us in return is to believe what He’s done through Jesus and to love Him with all our hearts!
Loving and serving God is what we do in response to His love. Someone who purposefully and perpetually sins is someone who is not responding to God’s great love—someone who is not believing everything Jesus has done for them and whose heart is not after God’s heart. Christians who try to see how much they can get away with and still make heaven—who say, “It doesn’t matter what I do, I’m saved by grace”—are Christians who don’t love God.
Those who love God live to please Him! Those who love God are seeking His heart, listening to His voice, and endeavoring to stay close to Him. Those who love God understand the price that Jesus paid to set them free from the bondage of sin—why would anyone go back to it? And again, sin still does what it’s always done—it separates. I don’t ever want to be separated from God!
The closer I get to Him, the more I love Him because I find out more and more about His love for me. That makes me want to live and walk worthy of Him. He has given His all for me. I want my life to please and bless His Daddy-heart. How about you?
