20/20 Vision: Eyes On Jesus নমুনা
20/20 Vision
The confetti has fallen on the midnight kiss, ushering in a new year; one not to miss. Happy New Year, and welcome to the year two thousand and twenty. As you awake and open your eyes, see the new day, see the clean slate, and see the endless possibility of a blank calendar. Dare to open your eyes and see with 20/20 vision.
Based on an article from the American Academy of Ophthalmology, “A person with 20/20 vision can see what an average individual can see on an eye chart when they are standing 20 feet away”. The term 20/20 vision, or normal vision, is the goal when using corrective lens; “however, 20/20 vision is not perfect vision”. This vision measurement, determined by an eye chart, is all based on the distance a person can see compared to the distance a person with normal vision can see. When it comes to vision, distance can make a huge difference in how one sees.
Have you ever considered how the space between you and God can affect the way you see the world?
When we are saved by grace through faith in Jesus, His once and for all sacrifice on the cross closes the gap, and eliminates the great distance caused by our sin; so that we may draw near to God. Ephesians 2:13 says, “But now in Christ Jesus, you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.” With this distance removed, God’s promised gift of the Holy Spirit, guarantees our salvation and allows us to begin to rightly see the world around us. Our vision is far from perfect, but with eyes on Jesus, we have a greater ability to see things more clearly. We may even spot some confetti that we missed seeing before.
A Prayer:
Dear Lord, We praise you and thank you for the new year and a fresh start. We are so grateful that through the blood of Jesus, we have been forgiven and brought near to you. Without your precious blood, shed on our behalf on the cross, the great chasm of our sin would forever prevent us from drawing near. Thank you for being the way, the truth, the life; our great bridge of love and hope over death and darkness. Please grant us 20/20 vision, with eyes laser-focused on you, Jesus, so that we may rightly see the world around us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
