Sweet Tea For The Soul: Devotions To Comfort The Heartনমুনা
Talk Is Talk
For the Lord gives wisdom; from His mouth come knowledge and understanding
Proverbs 2:6 ESV
When someone says, “We done plowed that furrow clean down to the bedrock. Time to rest the mule,” it means the matter has already been discussed way too much and it’s time to move on. There are times in life when each of us must face major decisions, and people react to that burden in different ways. Some are good at snap decisions, and sometimes not so good. Que sera is their mentality. These folks are okay with whatever comes of their ill-thought-out and usually foolhardy plans, and they often get into trouble. Others like to mull things over, cogitate, ponder, deliberate, ruminate, dwell on, and talk about what to do over and over again until it makes your head hurt just listening to them. They refuse to act on a matter until they’ve planned and plotted out every scenario and result of the decision they fear to make. The word fear is important because the refusal to act is based in fear.
FAITH CHECK
What does the Bible say about decisions? James 1:5 ESV states, “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him.” Asking God to give us wisdom in making decisions takes the pressure off us. When we invite God to be part of the decision-making process of our everyday lives, every decision, small or large, is made in partnership and reliance on God the Father.
