Eventual Good
I recently heard a missionary say: “God is good. Life is hard. Don’t try to reconcile the two.”
Many times, people may use the excuse, “If God is so good, how can He let bad things happen?” to not believe in Him. I believe that is where the problem lies; when imperfect men and women try to hold a perfect God to our imperfect standard of “good”. The problem also lies in our short-sighted vision, our tendency to look only at temporary things - and to not fix our eyes on eternity.
“In God’s hands intended evil becomes eventual good.” -Max Lucado
This doesn’t mean we aren’t going to suffer. Unfortunately, suffering is just a part of life. It simply means that sometimes our suffering has a purpose. I am encouraged by scriptures like Romans 8:18. Scriptures like these dethrone the God of suffering and put it in its proper place.
“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us.”
Think about this for a minute: The pain you are going through RIGHT NOW doesn’t even compare to the joy of heaven. The enemy wants you to quit and there is this little secret that he doesn’t want you to know: As long as you don’t quit, YOU WIN!
