Sonship Produces Faith
Intimacy with God produces identity, and identity produces faith. Without the revelation of our identity as children of God, it is impossible to operate in a greater measure of faith. Our faith in Jesus grafts us into the vine and reroutes us into His bloodline. In John 8:28 Jesus says, “I do nothing on My own initiative, but I speak these things as the Father taught me.” The Father doesn’t share secrets with just anybody. The Father shares hidden things in His heart with His sons and daughters. He reveals mysteries to those who carry His heart. Like John, who laid his head upon Jesus’ chest and asked Him deeper questions and who saw Jesus glorified as the bridegroom (Rev. 1:13). When we abide in a place of intimacy with the Father, we’ll begin to carry His heart. Draw near to the Father, receive His heart, and then step out in faith.
What’s entering your ear gates, eye gates, and heart gate? What’s feeding your spirit? Pause and think about it. The nourishment of your spirit comes through relationship and intimacy with the Father. Unfortunately, many have replaced His voice with outdated, fake, empty sources. The Holy Spirit may ask you to lay down some things, some TV shows, music, and even some relationships that have unknowingly become idols and replaced the Father’s voice in your life.
Picture this: You’re wearing headphones, listening to a sound or voice. The Father is singing over you. He’s telling you who you really are. He’s affirming you. But, there’s a problem. You have headphones on and you can’t hear His voice. Now, picture this: a phone on your left ear, and another phone on your right. Receiving a sound and voice from two entirely different sources and directions. One being the voice of the Father; the other phone being the voice of another. Both of these voices cause confusion in identity and cut off intimacy.
Remove the “voice of another” and “sound of another” from your life. Let the Voice of healing, the Voice of hope, and the Voice of truth take precedence over every other voice. To walk in the fullness of your identity and purpose, you have to remove whatever is hindering you from hearing the voice of the Father!
Don’t let other voices tell you who you are or the direction you should go. Quiet all the noise and listen to His voice. Consecrate your eyes, ears, and heart. You are a child of the living God. Lean into the sound of your Father’s voice. Your faith will grow to new dimensions as you live from your identity in Christ and abide in intimacy with the Father.
