State Of Mind

DAY 5 OF 5

Our society awards achievement and accomplishment. Our value is determined by what and how much you do.

Because of this, we constantly feel the need to perform, measure up, do more, keep up the grades, impress the coach, make money, and on and on and on. We are constantly doing and striving.

This pace of life has left many of us gasping for breath. It’s left many of us feeling stressed out, anxious, and depressed.

Many of us live our lives at an unsustainable pace.

Remember the rhythm of life God demonstrated for us in Genesis. In Genesis 2, we’re told that God created for six days. Then, on the seventh day, God rested.

God rested. Think about that for a minute.

Did God rest because he needed to? Because he was tired? No!

God could work non-stop if he wanted to. However, God set an example of how you and I should live. He shows us how to live the best life and apparently, taking time to rest is part of that plan. There’s a rhythm of work and rest that many of us ignore.

When you go against the way things were meant to be, you’ll eventually feel the consequences.

Is the pace you’re currently going at sustainable? Why or why not? How has your current pace of life affected your mental wellness? What might it look like to implement Sabbath in your life?
