Encouraging our kids to be successful in life is not inherently a bad thing, so long as we make it clear that the most important thing to find success in is Christ. In fact, nothing else in comparison can truly even be considered success apart from being able to hear ‘Well done good and faithful servant’ from Christ Himself.
