Get An Understanding.
“Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.” Proverbs 4:7 KJV
Before you speak, choose to get an understanding. Maybe, you do not have the full story. Before you speak, choose to examine the circumstance and weigh the matter appropriately. Let God guide and soften your heart before you speak.
Maybe, you’re offended by the circumstance. Maybe the person, or the people involved, have trespassed against you — choose to forgive before you speak. Remember, hardened hearts only speak venomous words. Let God soften your heart before you speak. Let God heal your heart before you speak. Get an understanding before you speak. Let God guide your lips. Choose to let wisdom flourish in your conversation.
Proverbs 4:7 AMPC declares, “The beginning of Wisdom is: get Wisdom (skillful and godly Wisdom)! [For skillful and godly Wisdom is the principal thing.] And with all you have gotten, get understanding (discernment, comprehension, and interpretation)” Choose to understand the matter before you recklessly speak. Friendships are destroyed through gossip and harsh words. Choose to forgive. Parental relationships are bruised from reckless speech. God-ordained relationships are damaged from reckless speech. Choose to frequently engage God. Choose to get an understanding.
Vital relationships perish from a lack of understanding. Choose to get an understanding. Forgive and submit the matter to God. Submit your heart to God. Let God lead your heart and guard your words. “Keep and guard your heart with all vigilance and above all that you guard, for out of it flow the springs of life.” Proverbs 4:23 AMPC
If you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, or if you have fallen away from Him, simply say this prayer:
Dear Heavenly Father, in the Name of Jesus, I repent of my sin. I turn to You. Father, I receive Your Son, Jesus Christ, as my Lord and Savior. I believe that Jesus Christ died and rose just for me.
I believe that His Blood washes me and cleanses me from all unrighteousness. Father, in You, I am set free. Father, through the Blood of your Son, Jesus Christ my past is history and my future is bright.
Father, In You, I am made new. Father, in You, I am complete. Father, in You, I am made whole. Father, in You, I am restored. Father, I surrender every area of my life to You now and forever. In Jesus Name. Amen.
