Motivation For Men – Keeping It Pure

DAY 19 OF 30

“Learning the Drill”

Having raised three sons, my wife and I have seen both of these reactions. the "light regard" for what our sons thought was unnecessary discipline and the "fainting" over what they thought was unbearable. In reality, however, godly discipline is a sign of the love that parents have for their children in preparing them for a successful life as an adult.

The same thing is true with our heavenly Father's discipline. We cannot attain to His standard of holiness and purity, sexually or otherwise, unless we ourselves are true disciples. Rather than seeing sexual purity as unnecessary or unattainable, we need to see it as an essential part of becoming like Jesus and of having the nature and character of God formed in us.

By God's grace and mercy we have become His children. By being trained to listen and to obey His voice, we become mature sons in whom God's image can be seen. Let us not fall short of that goal due to short-term difficulties and setbacks.
